Tesco has been described as the largest grocery home shopping service in the world. And it's not hard to see why. In 2001 Tesco managed to create £1 billion in price cuts and also became the leading organic retailer in the UK. Among the many new services they now provide, including motor and home insurance, mobile phone services and broadband, they still provide the consumer with incredibly good value for money for the majority of the rest of their product lines. Not only for their food and drink, (including their own 'Fairtrade' brand) but also their immense range of other consumer items. These include books, clothes, DVDs, CDs, electrical goods, flowers and many other product lines they continue to sell successfully through their major retail outlets and Tesco Express convenience stores.
In 2000 Tesco.com was launched, bringing their business to the internet with resounding success. Most of the items Tesco sells in it's stores can also be purchased online. This includes any amount of groceries delivered direct to your home. (See the 'Grocery Help' section on their website for full details and answers to any questions you may have about this service) Recently they have added two more popular services to their online business. These include music downloads, with thousands of popular tracks and albums available to download, and a DVD rental service with over 40,000 DVD titles to choose from. (You can rent up to 3 dvd's at a time with no late fees and free delivery both ways). Can Tesco provide as good a service as it's rivals in these specialist areas? Perhaps only time will tell. Why not check them out for yourself and make your own mind up. |
